I created this piece in collaboration with Kandi White of the Indigenous Environmental Network as part of a climate justice art portfolio commissioned by The Center for Cultural Power and justseeds.
Kandi White and I discussed how fracking has impacted her community in North Dakota (You can hear her speak about it here) and how women are leading the fight against the violence of the extractive economy. This images tries to express the long lineage of Indigenous women’s resistance, and the presence of ancestors supporting today's climate warriors.
