Miklat Miklat is an ongoing project about the concept of the City of Refuge (or Ir Miklat), scapegoating, and transformative justice. It includes a zine created by Lewis Wallace and myself, and many iterations of paintings and sculptures. A centerpiece of the project is a large goat made out of wire, mud, paper and hair - people are encouraged to write down a transgression on a slip of paper and insert it into the deep plush anal cavity of the scapegoat, and then to withdraw a question about transformative justice from the mouth of the goat. Through this reverse digestive process the project explores questions about sanctuary, transgression, and healing.
